Our work in schools and other education settings

Children will have experiences of loss and bereavement throughout their life, and we strongly believe that the school community has a role in both preparing and educating its pupils in how to manage these situations, as well as providing essential support.
Evolve & Flourish help schools to prepare students for coping with bereavement and creates a place of solace for students and staff; a place where continuity and structure exist when everything else is changing; a compassionate community where students are listened to and supported by both staff and their peers; where their experiences are acknowledged, and their needs are met.
Evolve & Flourish also offer a support and a training package that utilises the Growing in Grief Awareness National Framework to support schools to:
• be better prepared to support pupils dealing with the death of a parent, sibling, friend, or someone else important in their lives.
• improve staff confidence in responding helpfully to bereaved pupils and parents/carers.
• develop students' understanding of grief and associated emotions, and how to support their peers who may be dealing with loss.
• find curriculum resources to help pupils learn about managing bereavement.
• demonstrate to inspectors, parents, and other key stakeholders how bereavement is being addressed.
• strengthen partnerships with local and national services for pupils who need additional support.
